Teamviewer - great and for personal use free remote access tool!

Short time ago i stumbled upon Teamviewer, a great (and free for personal use) remote control tool. As i sometimes help friends with pc issues, this is worth MUCH. Very easy to insall, easy to use and secure, even with a VPN Option for PC-PC Connections!

And this for Mac OSX, Windows PCs, Linux and iPhones!

I really like it :)

Download here for a try: http://www.teamviewer.com/de/download/index.aspx

Dropbox - a great "How to quickly share big files" Tool

DropBox is a great site for getting a great 2GB free internet share for FREE!

FractalAudio: Axe FX Ultra Best Guitar Sound Designer ever?!

After using valve guitar amps (Mesa Boogie mostly) with a few strat style guitars (Ibanez S540, Music Man Silhouette, Music Man Axis) and descent digital multi effects (TC Electronics G-Major) plus unavoidable floor effects (Dunlop Crybaby Wah, Boss Looper RC-2) i always wondered if modeling and all-in-one equipment could ever replace my stack of equipment.

Some expectations were placed in the glorious Line6 Products (POD xt, POD X3), which i loved for their concept and usability plus nice extras like guitarportonline.

Short time ago i stumbled upon a few new things.

Peavey Revalver III was told to be a great modeler, also there was some rumor about a new i-deliver-you-all thingy from a new company called FractalAudio. Well we all heard such marketing hype shouts often enouggh - to be disappointed after all.

The Real thing ruled always against all simulations of real equipment.

Checking out the (free!) demo of Revalver III left me puzzled... How could this?! Damn! The plugin/Standalone modeler sounds open and nice as i never expected a PC or Mac based solution could ever do! Cross checking with my POD X3 was bashing the POD. The Revalver III is the best sounding amp simulation i ever knew until this day. Too sad i have a PC which was really unable to use it for many recording tracks at once, so i decided to first buy a new PC some day and then maybe go to revalver...

Well still there were these rumors about this Axe FX Something were going around. And they werge getting louder... As i accidently stumbled upon a pile of money i just did it. I ordered an Axe FX Ultra. The top version of the Axe FX, showing more processing power and therefore delivering some effects unique to the Ultra and more realtime effects possibilities.

The guys from g66.com (who are the official european distributors for FractalAudio stuff) wer VERY kind and helpful. I finally got my Axe FX Ultra after it had being checked for any hidden issues, replaced a normally noisy fan and got the latest firmware which was zero days old :) Lucky!

On the day i got the highly expected parcel got nearly no time, so i just quickly checked it out how this little wonder may "feel". I attached it to my stereo (no tweeters to blow as i own electrostatic loudspeakers), played a few presets and was blown away! That sound really gave me the creeps! I never ever had this feeling whilst playing with an effect loaded sound even through my real equipment! But sadly i had to quit as i had to go for other activity...

Later in the night i returned and wanted to try the ultra a bit. Well this was from 1:00am to 3:00am until i nearly fell asleep while playing. I loved it! And i only got to preset 120 of >384 :)

All i can say is: if you can afford it, buy it. You likely will not be disappointed. :)

Roomcorrection for music listening rooms

I have gained much experience with digital roomcorrection (with acourate, see www.acourate.com) and a bit with physical whilst placing basotect here and there where needed.

Now i decided to correct the whole listening room tigether with en expert in acoustics. Resuslts will be postet. After that i reapply digital roomcorrection to get tha last 5% out of it.

My expectations are huge :)

Oracle Forms JDAPI, Java, Groovy ...

Actually i try to focus upon Oracle JDAPI for programmatically analysing and changing Oracle Forms Modules...

Of course this works with Groovy, too ;) I already checked this out...

BTW Groovy 1.6 is out! I comes with a kind of "full installation" delivering a bunch of tools and ready made config help (groovy home set, path extended etc.)
Be aware it may collide with an already working environment - as i experienced it ;)

Let's see what this will lead to.

Need more MegaPix... What about >1k?

Hi there,

nice to stumble upon news like http://www.gigapansystems.com/ having developed an automatic panning device to create Giga(!)pixel size Pictures even with low cost consumer digicams.

The device itself is told to be affordable, too (around 400$ afaik) so next step is waiting - for the slightly enhanced version which is able to carry SLR size digicams ;)
